ARCHIVE OF ELSE

Spatial Installation Design

A world can be what we refuse to reproduce.

Sara Ahmad

Sowing the seed of futures untethered from oppressive systems starts with renouncing the imposed reality, Archive of Else is a call to imagine such potentialities. It initiates an interactive discourse that interrogates what would have unfolded in the absence of colonial perspectives embedded in our collective memory and how certain contemporary structures of daily life would have evolved, by generating a live conversation between two AIs, in which at any point, visitors can join.

Colonialism has not only affected the ones who were subject to it but also set the global reality. Many constructs of life are tied to colonialism in a not-so-obvious way. The discourse is narrated by a selection of such subjects which will periodically reset and shift focus to the next subject to make the content digestible and the dialogue easy to interact with for the visitors. Two AI software, trained with established resources, one for the role of “historian” and the latter for “controversial speculist”, will allow a rooted, unconventional, and comprehensible conversation.

The installation is a machine-like structure that hosts the ongoing conversation that will be continuously printed creating a pile of cumulative contemplations to put an emphasis on the endless realities.
